In 1988, plans were initiated to secure funding and a location for a college in the Eastern Sierra. Community members from a wide variety of organizations, businesses and interests were involved in the process of bringing higher education to Inyo and Mono counties.
In 1994, the Eastern Sierra Foundation was formed and incorporated as a non-profit organization with a mission to assist the foundation and growth of the ESCC. The Bishop campus opened to students in the fall of 2003.
Eastern Sierra College Center continues to grow and develop exciting new programs and opportunities for students in Inyo and Mono counties.
